GamesCon

Hey guys, long time no post. Sorry, there hasn't been that much to post about, but none-the-less, this blog will be kept alive! So in this short post, I will explain what happened at GamesCon.

Half Life THREE, yes THREE, was supposed to be announced at GamesCon. Why it was 3 instead of Episode 3 beats me, but for some reason it was a mishap and was removed from the finally schedule.

That was the schedule that was put on a website for the "official GamesCon schedule." Sadly, it was a mistake and was later removed. Fuck you schedule maker, you got our hopes up.

When is Half-Life Episode 3 Coming? You Know the Answer!

Valve boss Gabe Newell delivered a keynote on Sunday at the Games for Change festival at New York University. As a part of the Games for Learning Day event, he focused largely on the educational benefits of games, although that didn't stop a question about Half-Life 2: Episode 3 from being asked.
It's a subject that comes up seemingly any time that a Valve employee is interviewed, and rightfully so; the episodic Half-Life games were intended to decrease the amount of time in between releases, not increase it. There was a six year gap after Half-Life was released before we saw Half-Life 2, and this October will mark four years since Episode 2. It seems like it must be coming sooner or later, but Valve is always coy about addressing the subject.
When asked when Episode 3 is coming out, Newell replied, "If you know enough to ask the question, you know enough what the answer is."
Newell also spent some time talking about Portal 2, casually mentioning that it's already sold three million units since launch. He didn't specify, but that presumably includes all platforms. It's a solid figure for a game that's only been available for two months.

Half Life 2: Episode 3 Silence

Why has Gabe kept Episode 3 such a secret? He never did this before! He ALWAYS tell people if there is going to be a another game or not. Gabe hasn't yet said anything about Episode 3. What does this mean? I believe that it could be because they are hard at work on it. Could it also be that they delayed it because they are working on the newest Source Engine? If they do, hopefully they can make it work on low-end machines at best, making player experience on such machines great! This would be great, because that means sales go up, and people with low end machines don't have to get a new computer. BUT, here is a sum-up from PCGamer, from the article called

"Half-Life 2: Episode 3 silence due to development “twists and turns” says Newell"

"Twists and Turns"

I seriously doubt it. I mean, seriously! VALVe is known to find problems and destroy them quite quickly! Could this possibly mean problems with the Source Engine???

“We’d like to be super transparent about the future of Ricochet 2”

We all know Ricochet 2 is Episode 3. Who liked Ricochet 1? Barely anyone. I understand it was a game from 2000, but it doesn't need a sequel! So it's easily said that it's Episode 3. What else would it be?

Episode 3 has been in development more than any other VALVe game. Since Episode 2 was released in 2004, that makes it 8 years in development! The earliest popular game after that was Left 4 Dead. And since then, no other major games, other than Counter Strike, Portal 2, and Dota games, were currently being worked on.

Stay tuned, for in the next post, I want to talk about something big!

Easter Eggs

We all know that VALVe has been giving us little easter eggs in games as to the development of Episode 3. BUT, people have been going around, taking pictures of people from the VALVe HQ and most likely photoshopping stuff in there. Why? Because they are morons! BUT, that's why i'm here. To recognize the true and fakes in easter eggs and uncover what can be uncovered.

Now, there was a blog, Path To Borealis — a Half-Life 2 blog, that has uncovered many easter eggs already, but stopped posting a few months ago. SO, i'm starting where he left off, and hopefully, we can uncover more easter eggs as they come. Go check out was he had so far, it's pretty interesting!

Half Life 2: Episode 3: Is There Really One?

So, i'm going to start this blog off by just going directly to the point. Will there be a Half Life 2: Episode 3? If there is, will it actually be that name, or will it be Half Life 3? We don't know! But from all the small things VALVe HAS released, it's not much. Most of all the things they've released are old or probably aren't in the game. The very newest concept art hasn't given us much as to the release of said game, but we all know, if there is one, that it'll be based around getting to the Borealis and either destroying it or using it against the Combine. What we know so far isn't much. But we are all hoping... that there will be one. VALVe hasn't left us hanging with any games series much, so I doubt they will just stop making it. What happens to Eli? What happens to the Borealis and the Combine? We shall find out. Stay tuned for later posts!
